UPDATE 10:05 a.m. 12/19: The fire that happened Wednesday, December 18 killed a person.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the 3300 block of Water Street, near the Light House Charthouse Fairport, near the Mississippi River. Several fire departments responded. Only one victim was found, but their name isn't being released pending family notification.
At 10:05 a.m. Thursday, Muscatine County Death Investigator Rich Hines said a state fire marshal is now investigating. He also said the body hasn't been identified.
ORIGINAL STORY: MUSCATINE, Iowa- Multiple fire departments were battling a house fire on December 18.
According to our team at the scene, Montpelier, Durant, Bluegrass, and Buffalo fire departments were on the scene around 7:15 P.M.
Mid American had cut power to the house and teams were containing flare-ups.
