SWAT team called in to Moline home, convicted felon escapes home

UPDATE 6/10: MOLINE-- Police surrounded a home near Stephens Park Saturday June 8, after getting a call of a man with a gun.

Police say the man wanted to hurt himself. A SWAT team was called in because police say the man is a convicted felon and has multiple active felony warrants out for his arrest.

Two people who were inside at the time were able to get out safely. Police say the man got away, but there is no threat to the public.

ORIGINAL STORY: MOLINE, Illinois -- The Moline Police Department responded to a situation near 3rd Street and 5th Avenue on Saturday, June 8.

Police said to avoid the area at this time, as eastbound traffic on 5th Avenue is being diverted to 3rd Street.

Police do not have any other information at this time.
