BETTENDORF, Iowa-- Crews are investigating an early morning house fire.

It happened in the 24000 block of 179th Street, near Spencer Creek, south of Great River Road. Crews tell News 8 they blocked off part of the road because of flooding in the area.

Public Information Officer Lauran Haldeman says the fire happened at 1:20 a.m. She says the only access to the property was in a zodiac boat, finding a detached garage fully involved threatening the residence.

Haldaman says the siding was melted on the side of the home. They did this all standing four feet or more of water. The occupants have been referred to the American Red Cross. There was mutual aid assistant from the Rock Island Arsenal and Riverdale Fire Department.

No injuries were reported. There's no word on a cause. There's also no damage cost estimate at this time.
