ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL –Flooding forced the Rock Island Arsenal to close down the Rock Island viaduct and gate for nearly two hours.

The Rock Island Viaduct and the Rock Island gate were closed from about 12:45 p.m. until 2:20 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, according to Public Affairs Officer Eric Cramer.

He said water had been gathering in the intersection and the pumps were unable to keep up.

During the closure, the Davenport gate was open for anyone who has a pass to get through.  All other traffic had to go through the Moline gate.
