Rock Island mayor speaks at State of the City address

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois-- Mayor Mike Thoms is touting success for 2018.

He gave his "State of the City" address on Monday, January 7.  He said throughout the year the city saw new and expanding businesses as well as revamped neighborhoods and busy streets.

"I think 2019 is going to be better than 2018," said Thoms. "We got the NFL Draft April 27th."

He said city leaders had been talking with retailers and said housing projects may potentially launch.
