70-year-old airlifted to hospital after head-on crash in Burlington

Police say people left their cars and rushed to help Burgus as she was trapped in her vehicle until the Burlington Fire Department managed to free her.

BURLINGTON, Iowa- A 70-year-old Burlington woman was life-flighted to Iowa City after a head-on crash left her trapped in her car.

On Wednesday, December 26, at 11:53 a.m. police say a pickup truck, driven by a 70-year-old Burlington woman, was northbound on highway 61 north of Flint Bottom road when she crossed the center line and hit a southbound box truck driven by a 32-year-old Walcott man.

Police say people left their cars and rushed to help the woman, who was trapped in her pickup, until the Burlington Fire Department managed to free her.

The Burlington and West Burlington Police Departments responded to the scene, as well as Medforce.
