Man arrested after ‘mishandling’ firearm leads to shots fired at Moline apartment

Police have arrested a man who they say mishandled a firearm at a Moline apartment.

MOLINE, Illinois -- Police have arrested a man who they say mishandled a firearm at a Moline apartment.

Police responded to shots fired at 11:15 p.m. at 2104 18th Ave on Dec. 14, according to a press release. When they arrived, they found a witness who saw people running from the Timber Ridge Apartments toward a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers quickly found the vehicle and arrested two suspects.

Officers found out a firearm had been discharged in the apartment after a "mishandling," the release states. Police say the bullet fired through the floor into the ceiling of a neighbor's apartment below.  The neighbor was six feet away from the bullet when it came in.  No one was injured.

Jovanis E. Robinson, 31, of Davenport was charged with Armed Violence and Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis as a result of the investigation, according to the release.

He is held at the Rock Island County Jail. His bond is set at $500,000.
