UPDATE (2:30 p.m.): MUSCATINE, Iowa -- The Muscatine Fire Department is still trying to put out small fires and hot spots after a house was "fully engulfed."
Muscatine fire responded to a 911 call that came in at 11:43 a.m. on Dec. 14, according to a press release. When they arrived at the house, they found flames and smoke pouring out of a porch on the alley side of the house.
Crews quickly knocked down the main body of fire on the porch, but flames had spread to other areas of the house, the release states. Most of the fire was finally put out by 12:49 p.m., but crews are still at the scene working on hot spots and small fires.
Investigators are now at the scene to determine what started the fire, according to the release. The damage is estimated at $30,000.
The house did not have anyone living in it at the time of the fire, officials said. There were no injuries to bystanders or crew members.
Earlier (12:55 p.m.): The Muscatine Fire Department is responding to a large house fire as flames and smoke pour from the home.
It's happening at the corner of 4th Street and Linn Street just a few blocks northwest of the Mississippi River bank.
The City of Muscatine released a photo on its Facebook page showing the fire. Flames can be seen pouring out of the north side of the house. Smoke is streaming from the windows on the first floor.
"PLEASE AVOID 4TH AND LINN AREA - Structure fire. Muscatine Fire on scene," the post reads.
It's unclear at this time what caused the fire or if there are any injuries.
