Body found in rubble after large house fire in Scott County

It happened at the intersection of 235th Street and 277 Avenue, in Rural Scott County, Iowa.

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa -- A body was found in the rubble of a home that caught on fire on Dec. 10.

Bryce Smith with the Scott County Sheriff's Office told News 8 that investigators will perform an autopsy to identify the body and determine the cause of death. No other information is known about the victim at this time.

The house fire produced a large plume of smoke seen in nearby LeClaire and Princeton.

It happened at the intersection of 235th Street and 277 Avenue, in Rural Scott County, Iowa.

Several fire engines and MidAmerican Energy Company were also at the scene.

An SUV crashed into a fire truck in LeClaire, Iowa, three miles away from the house fire.

Cody Road and Holland Street were blocked off in LeClaire. The accident happened near Riverview Roadhouse Bar & Grill.
