17-year-old East Moliner stabs brother, steals car and crashes it into residence

It happened near the corner of 4th Street and 15th Avenue around 2:30am.

EAST MOLINE, Illinois - East Moline police have arrested a 17-year-old they say stabbed his brother before fleeing the scene on Dec. 3.

Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of 15th Avenue on the report of a battery in progress, according to a press release. Two brothers were fighting at 2:30 a.m. when one brother stabbed the other with a knife.

The suspect then took his brother's vehicle and drove away. He soon lost control and crashed into a residence in the 1500 block of Kennedy Drive. The home was vacant.

The man got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Police soon caught and arrested him.

His brother, a 28-year-old from East Moline, was transported to a hospital. He was stabbed in the abdomen, but his injury is considered non-life threatening.

Neither of the men's names have been released. Police say there is "no danger to the public."
