ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Illinois -- A crash on the I-280 bridge over the Mississippi River caused a major traffic headache for morning commuters on Nov. 15.
A man driving a dump truck slowed down in the construction zone at the time of the crash A semi truck driver didn't break in time and crashed into the back of the the dump truck. Another driver behind the semi truck then hit the semi.
No injuries were reported. The two drivers who hit vehicles in front of them were ticketed for failing to reduce speed.
Illinois State Police told News 8 that the crash affected all Iowa-Bound, or westbound traffic. Traffic was rerouted onto Illinois Highway 92. Westbound commuters were told to take the Centennial Freeway toward downtown Rock Island, go across the Centennial Bridge, and then west on River Drive.

The I-280 Bridge is already down to one lane for construction in both lanes. Traffic was also backed up on the Illinois-bound, or eastbound side of the bridge.
