Roads and parks impacted by flooding in Davenport

The Mississippi River is flooding and expected to continue throughout the week.

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Mississippi River is flooding and expected to continue throughout the week.

As of Thursday afternoon, October 11, the river was just 17.35 feet high in Davenport.

The following roads will be impacted by flooding

  • South Concord between Utah and River Drive as well as Wapello and Miller between Railroad Avenue and South Concord are closed.
  • All traffic on River Dr between Division and 3rd St is being detoured for water over the road. Access to amenities such as the River’s Edge, the Freight House and Farmer’s Market, and Modern Woodmen Park is available by taking Western to River Dr.
  •  Beiderbecke is closed.
  • The road closure at Mound St that was placed yesterday due to sanitary sewer surcharge has been removed and the road re-opened.

  • The boat dock at Marquette Landing is not accessible due to river level.

  • The majority of the Riverfront Recreational Trail between Credit Island and Bettendorf City limits is closed due to water over the trail.

The following parks and trails are closed: 

  • Credit Island is closed.
  • Most of the Riverfront Recreational Trail between Credit Island and Bettendorf's city limits will be closed as water flows over the trail this week.
  • Water is impacting LeClaire Park.
  • The boat dock at Marquette landing is not accessible due to river levels.

The following events will be impacted (see individual event pages for alternate plans): 

  • The LULAC 2018 Military Salute will be held at the LULAC
  • Run with the Bull 5k and 2018 CBRCPumpkin Dash 4Km and 8km run are affected
  • Decker Dash 5k is moving to Duck Creek Park

These are the other precautions that are being taken:

  • Access to the Compost Facility at 2707 Railroad Avenue is available via Rockingham Road/Highway 22 to Wapello to Railroad Ave.
  • Uprights for floodwalls at Modern Woodmen Park are being installed as a readiness measure.  As of Monday morning, the park remains open.
  • Pumps have been set and some gates closed in various low-lying areas around the city.
