EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- Restoration of the Campbell's island monument is almost finished.
According to a statement from the local chapter of Society Daughters of
the American Revolution, the monument was dedicated in 1908. Since then, parts of the monument and the surrounding area has fallen into disrepair.
Evans-Mason Inc. has been at work restoring the sidewalk around the monument and securing the commemorative plaques on a War of 1812 monument. The Springfield company has been in business for over 55 years, working on monuments and other structures.
"We seek this work out," Todd Snow of Evans-Mason Inc. said. "It's something to take pride in."
The monument is found on the north west end of the island.
