Flash Flood Warning in effect for Knox County

Heavy rain will be possible, especially for areas south of I-80 today.

UPDATE: GALESBURG, Illinois — Several streets are closed on Friday, Sept. 9, due to flash flooding. Here’s a list of the effected areas:

  W. Carl Sandburg Dr. just west of Henderson St. in front of Tractor Supply
–  E. Carl Sandburg Dr. at Seminary Village
–  W. Fremont St. from Sweetbriar to Carl Sandburg Dr.
–  Sweetbriar from Fremont St. to Frank St.
–  1800 Block Cornelia Rd.
–  Fifth St. just west of Farnham in front of Lee Apartments
–  Oriole Dr. at Meadow Lark Dr.
–  McClure St. Underpass
– S. West Street by the train yard

EARLIER: A Flash Flood Warning is in effect through 11:00 a.m. this Friday morning due to rains that have accumulated 2-3 inches in just a short period of time.

Areas affected are Galesburg, Henderson, Wataga, and Victoria. If you come upon a water-covered road, please turn around. Most flash floods that turn deadly are preventable.
