Update: Police have identified the driver who was killed in a fatal crash on Sunday, Aug. 26 near Orion as Sheryl Freed, 56, of Rock Island.
According to police, there were two juvenile passengers in Freed's car. Freed's car collided with a pick-up truck pulling a trailer which was driven by Kevin M. Gladkin, 27, of Orion.
There were reportedly other injuries as a result of the crash, but police have not released the identities of those injured or said how severe the injuries were.
Earlier: ORION, Illinois-- At least one person is dead, and a number of others are injured after a car accident in Orion, Illinois. At least one person was airlifted from the scene.
It happened on Route 150 near 200th Street just before the bend in the road further south on Route 150 just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
There are at least two cars involved. The road opened late Sunday night.
Illinois State Police are leading the investigation into the crash. Right now they are still actively processing the scene with help from the Orion Police Department and the Coal Valley Police Department.
