EAST MOLINE- Police say the caller who threatened violence at United Township High School on August 17 and August 23 is in Germany.

Police say the incident that caused a lockdown on August 23 at UTHS is similar situation to the threat made on Friday.

The building was surrounded by officers from East Moline, Moline and Rock Island County police departments.

Parents gathered outside of the school, telling WQAD News 8 that they were trying not to panic while waiting for information about why the school was placed on lockdown.

The lockdown was lifted at approximately 9:10 a.m. after police determined the threat was not valid.

Investigators traced the incoming call from last week's threat and tied the account to a known subject in Hagen, Germany. The case has been turned over to the FBI for further international
investigation.

School resumed shortly after 9:00 a.m. on August 23. Police say they will add additional patrols to monitor the high school.

Police encourage parents to use social media to find ways to stay updated on what is happening. They say the school district's superintendent and the police department both tweet and update their Facebook pages with the latest information during these types of incidents.
