DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Both Davenport and Moline police departments are investigating two overnight incidents Monday, June 18th morning: the non-life threatening gunshot injury of a 28-year-old man who walked into Genesis East Hospital, and a car chase related to shots fired in Moline.

Around 2:30 a.m., a Moline police officer heard several shots fired in the 2400 block of 16th St. and saw two vehicles fleeing the scene at high speed.

Police attempted to pull one of the vehicles over but it did not stop, increasing its speed as it was being pursued. The vehicle then turned off its lights and was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Out of caution to the public, police discontinued the pursuit but called Davenport police for assistance.

At 2:34 a.m., Davenport police responded to the area of East Locust St. and Kimberly Rd. to assist Moline police in pursuing the vehicle. The vehicle traveled to I-280 westbound and back into Illinois, where Davenport police discontinued their involvement.

Officers later located a vehicle with several bullet holes in it in the parking lot at The Belgrade, 2431 16th Street, Moline.

Shortly after, around 2:56 a.m., Davenport police responded to 28-year-old man from Chicago with a non-life threatening gunshot injury at Genesis East Hospital.

Both Davenport and Moline police are uncertain if the two incidents are related.

An investigation is ongoing.
