DIXON, Illinois -- A teenager has pleaded not guilty to charges that he opened fire at Dixon High School in May 2018.
Matthew Milby Jr., age 19, entered his plea at a preliminary hearing Thursday in Lee County. He has been charged with three aggravated discharge of a firearm charges, and was held in the Lee County Jail on $2 million bond.

Milby is accused of taking a semi-automatic rifle to Dixon High School on May 16 as graduation practice was taking place in the gym. Authorities allege that Milby, who was a member of the graduating class, fired at a gym teacher and was running away when he was confronted by school resource officer Mark Dallas.
Milby is accused of firing at Dallas. Dallas returned fire, striking the teen in the shoulder and the hip. Neither Dallas nor the gym teacher was injured.
It was at the hearing Thursday that a judge decided there was enough probable cause to take the case to trial. A pretrial was set for Friday, June 8.
Milby's defense attorney, however, is concerned about starting a trial before having all the information.
"We're missing a ton of information," said defense attorney Thomas Murray. "There's three police agencies that have engaged in assisting in this investigation and I don't have any of that information."
Murray said he planned to make mention of this at the pretrial Friday.
