DAVENPORT, Iowa -- An officer-involved shooting has forced a half-mile of Division Street to close.

A reckless driver crashed into multiple cars and a building on Wednesday morning, May 16, according to Major Jeff Bladel with the Davenport Police Department.   A passerby flagged down an officer to report the alleged hit and runs.

After trying to stop the driver, the officer fired their weapon.  That person was reportedly taken to the hospital.

There was no word on how many people were involved or the extent of any injuries.

Because it was an officer-involved shooting, the Scott County Sheriff's Department will take over the investigation.  Any updates will come from them.

Division Street between 4th Street and 10th Street was expected to remain closed into the afternoon.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call the Davenport Police Department.
