Flooding forcing road closures across region

Four counties in eastern Iowa and western Illinois are under the current flood warning.

Steady rain and melting snow are pushing area rivers and streams over their banks, leading to a number of road closures.

In Scott County, 288th Street from 82nd Avenue to River Camp Road and 90th Avenue from 277th Street to 288th Street are closed due to high water on the Wapsipinicon River.

Update: Roads added to closure list in Scott County on Feb. 21:

288th Street: From 82nd Avenue to River Camp Road

90th Avenue: From 277th Street to 288th Street

82nd Avenue: From 288th Street north ~0.5 miles

275th Street: From 75th Avenue north ~0.3 miles

River Camp Road: From 288th Street to ~800 feet east of 106th Avenue

98th Avenue: North of River Camp Road

297th and 298th Streets: North of River Camp Road

106th Avenue: North of River Camp Road

Road closed SC

Illinois 78 between Prophetstown and Lyndon is closed as is Moline Road between Erie and Lyndon.

The Rock Island County Sheriff's Department also issued a flood statement. It reads:

There are also reports of multiple road closures due to flooding in Jackson and Clinton counties in Iowa as well. The National Weather Service Quad Cities has issued flood warnings for the following counties:

  • Whiteside County in northwestern Illinois.
    Carroll County in northwestern Illinois.
    Stephenson County in northwestern Illinois.
    Jackson County in east central Iowa.
