Gunshot victim hospitalized after reports of gunfire and screaming in Colona

After a shooting left one person injured and in intensive care, a warrant was issued for the arrest of a suspect.

COLONA, Illinois -- After a shooting left one person injured and in intensive care, a warrant was issued for the arrest of a suspect.

It was around 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 23rd when gunfire and screaming was reported to the Colona Police Department.  Shortly after, police got word that a male with a gunshot wound to the chest was being driven to the hospital by private vehicle.

Once officers met with the injured person at the 7-11 in Colona, which is listed as being on 1st Avenue, he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.  The injured person was in the ICU and listed in stable condition as of Wednesday morning and remained in the hospital as of Friday, according to the Colona Police.

Police said a $2 million warrant has been issued for the arrest of 19-year-old Joshua Michael Jones out of Henry County.  Jones is described as standing 6-feet, 3-inches, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair.  He is considered armed and dangerous.

Several departments have assisted in the investigation including the Henry County Sheriff's Office, the Illinois State Police, the Rock Island Police Department, the Davenport Police Department, and the Bettendorf Police Department.

"Please understand that Joshua is a suspect at this time, and has not been found guilty of a crime," read the police statement.
