WHITESIDE COUNTY, Illinois — On Sunday night, December 17, at 9:20 p.m., Whiteside County Deputies were called to the 1600 block of Riverdale Road for reports of a man making threats to shoot people inside of a home.

According to the Whiteside County Shreriff’s Office, the first deputy to arrive on scene saw a man, identified as Richard Rippy, 26, walk out of the front door of the trailer. Police say the deputy ordered Rippy to stop but he refused and ran back inside of the trailer.

Police say a perimeter was set up by Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Falls Police, Sterling Police, and Illinois State Police.

The Whiteside County Swat team was activated as a result of Rippy possibly having firearms and previous threats. Police say Swat arrived on scene within an hour.

Once the owner of the trailer granted access to police, around 10:45 p.m., Swat entered the trailer and found Rippy hiding in a bedroom closet.

Police say Rippy was arrested and taken to the Whiteside County Jail on a Whiteside County warrant for failure to appear on driving while revoked, two Lee County warrants for failure to appear on petition to revoke probation, and a contempt warrant.

There were no injuries reported.
