A driver who was being chased by police ended up getting out of her vehicle and hiding in a pile of leaves.

The pursuit was westbound on U.S. Route 20 from Stephenson County into Jo Daviess County around 9 p.m. Sunday, December 17th, according to a statement from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said the chase went through Stockton, Illinois and into Woodbine, Illinois before a deputy was able to put out stop sticks and end the chase.  The driver then fled from her vehicle near Chicago Street and Woodbine Road.

A K-9 was sent to track the fleeing driver and located her “hiding in a pile of leaves and tree limbs in a yard near where she had fled from the vehicle,” the statement said.

She was taken into custody and taken to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.  No word on any charges being filed.

Police did not say what started the pursuit.
