Update: The intersection has reopened.
ROCK ISLAND, Illinois -- Drivers are urged to avoid the intersection of 17th Street and 31st Avenue while crews work to fix a gas leak.
Deputy Chief Jason Foy says MidAmerican Energy is on scene.
It's unclear how long the intersection will be closed off but drivers will be required to take alternate routes until the leak is contained.
