Update: Multiple cars, home struck by gunfire in Moline

Police say they believe the cars and house were not targeted but were hit as a result of two cars driving by the area, firing shots at each other.

MOLINE, Illinois -- Moline Police officers responded to numerous reports of shots fired in the 1900 block of 15th St. A in Moline around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, December 11.

According to the Moline Police Department, three unoccupied cars and one occupied house were struck by gunfire.

Police say they believe the cars and house were not targeted but were hit as a result of two cars driving eastbound on 19th Avenue, firing shots at each other.

There were no injuries reported. Police say the victims and suspects, who have not been identified, left the area.

Police say as they were canvassing the area, around 9:20 p.m., they received reports of a second shots fired incident at the Highland Manor Apartments in the 4200 block of 22nd Avenue in Moline.

Upon arrival, police found shell casings but there was no reported property damage.

Moline Police say the suspects were seen leaving the area westbound in a white, 4-door car with tinted windows, possibly a Chevrolet Impala.

At this time, it is not believed the two incidents are related.
