CLINTON, Iowa -- A Clinton man is dead after his home caught fire late Monday evening, November 27th.
Firefighters responded to a call in the 2400 block of Second St. around 11:30 p.m. and found a two-story home on fire.
Firefighters were unable to enter the home immediately, having to get the flames under control first, according to a statement from the Clinton Police Department.
Once firefighters knocked the flames down enough they were able to enter the home, where they found a body, later identified as 50-year-old Donald D. Loechel. An autopsy was conducted by the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office.
A state fire marshal was assisting in the fire investigation.
