Now that Harvey has been downgraded to a tropical storm, sustained winds have weakened significantly. Eventually its winds will weaken to about 30 mph by Friday.

That will cause entire coastal towns to be inundated with water…possibly up to rooftops. Since Harvey has moved further inland and weakened, storm surge has not been as much of a concern.
The greatest impact from Harvey is the flooding and extreme rainfall. Below is a look at how much rain could fall in the region as Harvey stalls over the next several days. In some places, rainfall will be more than the Quad Cities receives in an entire year! That could take the better part of a week to recede, causing additional life-threatening conditions.
