New Moline City Administrator Could Make $157K

Leaders are hoping to hire a new city administrator the week of Monday, May 8.

MOLINE- The city council will consider a new city administrator Tuesday, May 9.

City leaders have submitted a letter of agreement for Waconda, Illinois Village Administrator, Douglas K. Maxeiner, to become the new city administrator. Council documents show Maxeiner's base salary, if approved, would be $157,500. The city council would approve the hire Tuesday, May 23. Maxeiner's first day would be Monday, June 12.

In November, former City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher retired. Mayor Stephanie Acri was our guest on Good Morning Quad Cities' 'Breakfast With' Thursday, May 4. Thursday, Acri said Steinbrecher did a great job while he was at the city.

"We came to a point where we thought it was time to have some fresh eyes look over what could be going on in Moline," Acri said Thursday. "Usually a city administrator stays for about seven years. Lew had been there for 12 years."

Tuesday's city council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Moline City Hall.

We continue with our May of Mayors Thursday, May 11 as we have breakfast with new Mayor Mike Thoms. If you have a question for him, send it here. We will be at the QC Coffee and Pancake House off 3rd Avenue. It opens at 6 a.m.
