MOLINE -- Drivers should be aware that a traffic shift is coming to John Deere Road.

As construction gets underway between I-74 and 70th Street, there will be two lanes for eastbound drivers and two lanes for westbound drivers, but all will be sharing the traditional westbound lanes.

Construction is expected to last through mid-November.

Here are the details of the temporary changes:

1.) Drivers trying to get from westbound I-74 onto eastbound John Deere Road will be detoured because the ramp will be closed starting at 10 a.m.

2.) Traffic signals on John Deere Road will be shifted starting at 7 p.m.  The intersections between 70th Street and 41st Street will be moved over to the west.

Note that between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., traffic signals may not quite match up in the grid of its respective lane.

"Please be very cautious during this time," read a statement about the project.

3.) Head-to-head traffic will begin at 10 p.m., Monday.  Traffic coming from the I-74 interchange will be directed into the new head-to-head pattern.

4.) As traffic shifts happen during this time, all northbound and southbound traffic will have to stop and wait at 41st Street, 53rd Street, 60th Street, and 70th Street for up to 10 minutes at a time.

5.) Also on Monday, 44th Avenue off of 53rd Street (south of Green Chevrolet) will shut down. This is expected to last for two weeks.
