Chemical spill closes Main Avenue in Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa — Main Avenue was closed Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017 after a chemical spill.

Hazmat was called to the scene, and the street was closed to traffic.

Police told News 8 that the spill came from a building in the area.  The area was evacuated and there were no injuries reported.

The situation is under control, police say.  There is no word on how long the roadway will remain closed.
