First “BBQ Alert” of the season means we grill steaks at 6 a.m.

With temps soaring into the 60s for the weekend, Eric Sorensen is taking advantage of the weather and grilling out.

In case you missed it, the crew of Good Morning Quad Cities grilled out this morning. In celebration of the year's first 60-degree weather, Eric took his skills into our Backyard Barbeque and grilled up some roasted potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, and T-Bone Steaks!

He even provided a few grilling secrets of his own! First, he says to use grocery store apps. Today's t-bone steaks were only $5.99 per pound at Jewel-Osco. And with a t-bone steak, you get a New York Strip on one side and a Filet Mignon on the other. So, it's a bonus two-for-one!

Also, a tip he got from friend and chef, Brad Scott of Scott Community College: If you have someone in your household who won't go in the same room as a Brussels Sprout, try putting some honey on the sprouts as they're coming out of the pan. It will get rid of the bitter taste and smell.

Another tip from Chef Toby Christiansen of Woodfire Grill? If something is sticking to the grill or a pan, leave it be! When your meat is ready to be flipped, it will move freely on the grill grate or pan.

If you have tips or ideas, pass them along to Eric! And by all means, share pictures of your grilling this weekend on the WQAD Facebook page!
