EAST MOLINE -- An elderly Oregon, Illinois man was found dead inside his car two days after he was reported missing.
A passerby noticed a vehicle parked off the main roadway, surrounded by water, in the 2100 block of 9th Avenue North in East Moline. That area is just south of I-88 and east of I-80.
Police said they found a single passenger vehicle with only one person inside, later identified as 88-year-old Gordon G. Landry from Oregon, Illinois. Landry was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Landry's family reported him missing on Monday, January 23, 2017 after he didn't show up to the hospital where he was expected.
Due to the Rock River levels, water had flooded the grassy area with two feet of water.
Oregon Police Department says at this time, they do not have any indication of foul play.Police say it appears that Landry turned onto a dirt road, where his vehicle became stuck in tillable farm field south west of the abandoned building.
