ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — Toys for Tots is making Christmas special for people in the Quad Cities. Friday, Dec. 16, was the first day for families to pick up the gifts donated throughout the season.

It meant a lot to one first time mom who's celebrating her child's first Christmas.

"I have two jobs, I'm a single mom, I have to do what's best for her and you this is just a fantastic thing. It's cold outside, it's just great that they're able to do stuff for us like this," said Brittany Hamilton.

The warehouse reopens again at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. The last day to pick up toys that were registered for is Sunday.
