While -38 degrees is just a weather model's depiction for the wind-cold combo, it is still likely to be worse than what we had this past Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Wind chills will dip negative beginning Saturday late-afternoon, continuing to fall fast into Sunday morning. That's when we could be in the -20s or -30s for wind chills! That would be enough to warrant "Wind Chill Warnings" instead of "Wind Chill Advisories." The real temperature is not expected to rise above -2 on Sunday with chills double-digit-negative all day.
While this extreme cold will be hard to take, there's some light at the end of the tunnel. By Wednesday of next week, we're expecting temperatures to rise above freezing...albeit just by a few degrees.
Oh! And by the way, Winter doesn't officially begin until Wednesday of next week.
