NAILED IT OR FAILED IT: Turn All Those Wine Corks Into A Christmas Craft

If you are hunkering down and drinking some wine this weekend because of this, try out this cute craft that Storm Track 8 Meteorologist Eric Sorensen and I worked on during our “Nailed It Or Failed It?” Segment on WQAD News 8 at 11am:

If you're like me, you have a LOT of wine corks sitting around. I needed them when I decided (and this was not my smartest idea) to make 250 wine cork coasters for my wedding back in 2012. In the more than four years since that day - I still collect wine corks, but don't really have a use for them.

Until now! Thanks to the blog, Make the Best of Things, I figured out how to take a couple of wine corks, some small twigs, and create this cute little reindeer:

reindeer-1I tried it out the night before our segment and it was super easy. The hardest part was making the holes for the twigs. I used a nail and a hammer, but I'm sure there's an easier way. Once you get all the holes in the right spots (and the right angles), you just go crazy with the glue gun - NOT TOO CRAZY - and before you know it, you have a tiny wine cork reindeer!

With the amount of wine corks I have collected over the past four years, I could make about 50 of these. I'm not sure if my dog, Zuno, would appreciate some new "friends" popping up around the house, though.
