DAVENPORT, Iowa-- Hundreds of people in the Quad Cities are booking appointments with Health Insurance Navigators at Genesis East in Davenport to get help signing up for insurance.

Thursday, December 15, is the last day to sign up to have coverage by the new year.

The absolute final day to sign up for health insurance is January 31, 2017, but Health Insurance Navigators at Genesis say this week's push will help families stay insured longer.

"We want people to sign up for health insurance before the December 15 deadline, so they can use their insurance by January 1st. If they sign up later than that, their insurance could not take effect until February," says Health Insurance Navigator, Laurie Zimmerman.

Navigators will be at Davenport's Fairmount Library from 1 pm to 4 pm helping people sign up.
