Brunch, river walk raises money for Spring Forward Learning Center

All of the money raised during the breakfast will go to support the Spring Forward Learning Center.

PORT BYRON, Illinois — The snow didn't stop people from getting outside Sunday morning, Dec. 11, for breakfast and a hike. Duey's tap in Port Byron hosted the Great River Trail Brunch.

All of the money raised during the breakfast will go to support the Spring Forward Learning Center. Families were encouraged to stop in for some food before heading out for a hike or bike ride along the river.

"We have snow this year, which we didn't last year. Last year we had rain for our event, so we do have people out taking a hike along the river. The snow is beautiful on the Mississippi River today, and it's been fun," said Dan McNeil, with the learning center.

Spring Forward offers free educational opportunities to people in Rock Island and Milan, including after school programs and summer camps.
