Workers airlifted to hospital after wrong-way McDonough County crash

MCDONOUGH COUNTY, Illinois — Two workers were airlifted to a Peoria hospital after they were struck by a car in McDonough County on Thursday, Dec. 1, reports the Illinois State Police.

A pickup onwed by Tharp LTD out of Oquakwa was illegally parked facing southbound in the northbound lane of McDonough County Road around 5:40 p.m. Ralph Day, 75, was driving northbound and said he became “blinded” by the truck’s headlights, causing him to drive into the ditch and hit two workers and their toolbox, reports the Illinois State Police.

Antonio Huante, 31, of Galesburg, has been cited for improper parking on a roadway.
