DES MOINES, Iowa (WHO TV) — Iowans will be watching closely as President-elect Donald Trump makes his decision about who should be the United States’ Ambassador to China.

Former Communications Director to Iowa governor Terry Branstad tells our Political Director Dave Price that his ex-boss is about to get a job as the United States Ambassador to China.

“As of right now the way things stand I think it’s probably more likely than not that the governor becomes the next ambassador to China,” said Jimmy Centers.

Branstad has known China`s current president for decades and recently led a trade mission trip to the country.

The governor has plans to be in New York starting Tuesday. His trip was originally scheduled to focus on economic development, but Branstad confirmed Monday morning that he has a “tentative” meeting with Trump. That has yet to be officially scheduled.
