Iowa sex offender escapes Sioux City work release program

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A sex offender has escaped his work release from the Sioux City Work Release Facility on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Michael Allen Meyer, 32, failed to return to the facility after leaving his place of work. Meyer was ordered to work release on Oct. 13 of this year after his Special Sentence Parole was revoked, which Meyer had been transferred to in February 2014. His sentence for the crime of third-degree sex abuse began in November 2010.

Meyer is described as a white man standing 6’1″ and weighing about 186 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call either the Sioux City Police Department or the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Department.
