WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WTTV) -- The Amazon Fulfillment Center might be the closest thing to Santa’s workshop right now, with potentially record breaking sales during Cyber Monday.

"We’re Santa’s little elves today so it’s super awesome," said Amazon spokesperson Cedric Ross.

As millions of people surf the web for deals, thousands of Amazon employees are working to keep up with the demand. Ross says Amazon hires enough seasonal help to double their staff at the Whitestown facility, which is the size of about 28 football fields. This year, their employees are expecting to be even busier than before.

"Last year was probably the biggest Cyber Monday we’ve ever had," Ross said.

"Customers ordered over 54 million items, which was a record breaking 629 items per second, and this year we think we’re going to do so much more than that, so we’re so excited," he said.
