Yearly Pioneer Village Christmas Walk brings visitors back in time

One long-standing holiday tradition is taking visitors back in time.

LONG GROVE, Iowa - One long-standing holiday tradition is taking visitors back in time.

Pioneer Village in Long Grove, IA welcomed people, and pets, for the annual Christmas Walk. Each of the buildings on the site had a different Christmas activity, including arts and crafts, music, and seeing Santa. New this year is the focus on pets, collecting pet food and toys for local shelters, and some pets even got a picture with Santa Claus himself. It's a family event that many people put on their calendars each year.

"We have multiple generations coming out here. So, you've got grandma and grandpa, mom and dad and the kids. Grandma and grandpa can maybe show everyone some of the things they remember from their Christmases, and their parents as well, and really introduce that to their children today," site manager Deborah Blad said.

The Christmas Walk is held each year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, bringing in hundreds of families to the historic site.
