CLINTON, Iowa — Boaters are still thought to be missing in the Mississippi River after their boat was recovered from a barge docking area near the 1500 block of S. Second Street in Clinton. Police were called to the area just before noon on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Police say that at this time, the boaters are unaccounted for. Police did not say how many people are missing, or how they know that there had been people inside the boat.

Several outside agencies including fire departments, search and rescue, Med Force and the Iowa DNR helped to search for the boaters, but they had to quit when it became too dark.

The search will resume after daylight on Sunday, Nov. 27, says the Clinton Police Department.

This incident is still under investigation and anyone with more information is asked to call the Clinton Police Department at 563-243-1458.
