Scratch Off Lotto Ticket

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Larry Hepner was on his way home from work when he decided to stop for a snack and a lottery ticket.

He bought a “$50,000 Holiday Super Crossword” scratch off ticket and won the top prize of $50,000. The ticket was purchased from the Expresslane on Hickory Grove Road on Friday, November 18, 2016.

“I was pretty sure after I counted it several times,” said the 29-year-old diesel mechanic. “Then I had to call my sister over to come verify before I drove to the gas station and look like a moron.”

He said even the Expresslane attendant was excited for him.

“The girl had goosebumps and was shaking herself,” Hepner said.

Hepner said he plans to use most of his winnings to make some upgrades to his home.  The rest will go in savings.
