ALEDO, Illinois — Preparations are underway for Aledo's Electric Light Parade. Messiah Lutheran Church members were hard at work Sunday afternoon, Nov. 20, on their Santa Lucia Festival Float. They chose the theme because they're referred to as the community's Swedish church. Santa Lucia is the Swedish Festival of Lights, and the float they're building helps tell that story.

Church members are excited to get involved in the parade this year.

"Well, we're joining for the first time, which is really exciting. It's just a fun family event held in downtown Aledo. It encourages all families to come out and support the schools, the businesses, just the community in general," said April Bowlyou, church member.

Aledo's Electric Light Parade is coming up on Friday, Dec. 2.
