GENESEO, Illinois -Good news for shoppers as they head to the grocery stores this holiday season, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is slightly down.
The farm bureau says this year's average cost for a Thanksgiving dinner is $49.87 to feed 10 people, down .24 cents from last year.
"So for a family of ten that`s less than five bucks a person," said DeAnne Bloomberg, manager of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau.
The best food deal is the star of the dinner, Turkey. It's falling .30 cents a pound.
"That reflects cheaper corn and soybeans which are obviously fed to turkey," said Bloomberg.
Milk and pumpkin pie mix is also cheaper.
However, some things are up, dinner rolls especially.
The Farm Bureau says each store may have special offers you should look for, which could let you stock up even more for less.
