BETTENDORF, Iowa — Afternoon commuters traveling from Moline to Bettendorf got a pleasant surprise Thursday afternoon with the early re-opening of the Grant Street off-ramp off of the Interstate 74 bridge.

The ramp had been closed since  Nov. 7 for construction related to the new I-74 bridge corridor improvements and Mississippi River bridge.

Cedric Wilkinson, project manager for the Iowa DOT, said the recent dry, warm weather helped speed up the construction, which was originally slated to last until Nov. 23.

“The work just got done early,” he said. “The great weather certainly helped.”
