MUSCATINE, Iowa — A fire that caused $25,000 in damage was intentionally set by a juvenile, according to the Muscatine fire marshal.
A pull-behind utility trailer was on fire in the 2300 block of Sampson Street when crews arrived around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016. According to Fire Marshal Mike Hartman’s statement, the fire was starting to spread to a nearby pole barn.
Firefighters immediately started fighting the fire, and it was quickly knocked down, Hartman said.
Damage to the trailer and pole barn combined was estimated at about $25,000, according to Hartman’s statement.
“Investigators found the fire to be intentionally set,” read the statement, and a juvenile was charged with arson.
There was no word on the juvenile’s connection with the property.
About 10 firefighters responded to the fire and several off-duty firefighters went to man the station in case of any emergencies.
