SPRINGFIELD, Illinois-- Illinois lawmakers will be in Springfield Wednesday, November 16, to work through their veto session before time runs out.
Governor Bruce Rauner is urging lawmakers to make a decision on parts of his reform before the stop gap budget, put in place at the end of June, ends on December 31.
A few things to consider during the veto session:
Automatic Voter Registration
Last spring the Illinois House and the Senate approved a bill that will automatically register motorist to vote at the DMV, unless people specifically request not to be registered.
Governor Rauner vetoed this bill, because it could increase the chance for voter fraud.
Child Services
Illinois law makers also approved a bill that would have expanded eligibility for Illinois families looking to participate in the state's child care assistance program.
This would have added about 40,000 children to the program.
Rauner also sent this bill back to the House and the Senate because he says, the program costs would be too expensive for the state to handle.
and giving the power plant, Exelon the financial help it needs to keep plants open.
Illinois has been without a state budget for the last 16 months.
The veto session will go on until early next week.
