One injured in shots-fired incident on Centennial Bridge Sunday

DAVENPORT — Police are investigating a shots-fired incident that also involved a car crash on Gaines Street that happened early in the morning on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday in the 800 block of Gaines Street. Police found a vehicle that appeared to have struck a pole and flipped over, with no occupants in it. No damage or injuries were reported at the time, however, shell casings were found near the flipped over car.

About an hour later, officers responded to Trinity Hospital in Rock Island after receiving a report of a gunshot victim. An adult male with a non-life threatening wound had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle. The victim reported he was driving into Iowa on the Centennial Bridge when shots were fired at the vehicle he was in. Officers also found shell casings on the bridge.

The incident remains under investigation.
